Fiverr.com Featured Gig Status

I was informed today by Fiverr.com that one of my gigs, my Fortune Teller gig, has achieved "featured gig" status...meaning I now have the prized fuchsia sash on the avatar of my gig, and I am certain to stay close to the top of the search.

 

So delighted, gloriously elated, with this happening to one of my gigs! Can you tell? LOL!

Wow! I feel so blessed! Fiverr.com has featured me again on their facebook!

What timing too! It's a real reward for me, considering just this morning I finalized orders on new camera equipment and editing software. LOL...who am I kidding...Totally sick of dealing with the coolpix hesitation, I have been wanting a dslr for friggin years now.

I did some major shopping around as I am not someone who just buys on whim. I had been looking at the Nikon 3100, then the Nikon 5100...thinking about staying with Nikon because of the lens compatibly...my DH has a number of old Nikon lenses...then the Canon D60 was recommended by a friend. Here is the kit at amazon . I looked at that camera real close, read reviews, watch videos about it, and the only thing that concerned me was that there is no auto focus on the video. I looked at the Nikon D7000, and that camera does offer autofocus on the video, but has less megapixels(mp) and less frames per second (fps), and comes with a slightly higher price tag.

The lack of auto focus plays into my use in two areas. Videotaping the Raw Mean Millie Mouthoff gig, and videotaping my dogs running out back.

With regards to the former, I figure the manual focus is going to force me to be better with that gig and really think it out more, and sure, it might be a bit more tedious and I can't fling the camera around like I do now with my point and shoot coolpix, but I think the extra effort will produce higher quality results. I think of the clown on the ice skates. You know those guys that pretend to be clumsy on the ice, they have more skill than the featured skaters. It takes skill to deliver something intentionally clumsy, and so I will still deliver an intentionally amateurish Mean Millie Mouthoff gig, but it will have a cleaner, clearer look to it, and a bit more thought behind the angles used.

The dogs out in back? I think a better product for all their running would actually be stills captured at a high speed, and the 60D can most definitely do that, especially when coupled with the SanDisk Extreme® Pro™ SDHC™ UHS-I Card - 16GB.

Ahh yes, the issue of which memory card to purchase took me the better part of the afternoon and evening to determine. I have a SanDisk (SD) now for my coolpix and never had not one issue with it, so I was leaning towards SD anyway, and then I read that the ones amazon is offering, the Extreme class 10, are actually discontinued items that better photog houses like B&H are not even carrying anymore. That sold me on the Pro, and I bought it direct from the SD site, as a lot of what is sold on eBay are counterfeit. 

I am also outfitting my gear to include:

A multi-coated UV filter...why put cheap glass on expensive glass, right? Also, some of those cheaper glasses can not only corrupt your image with glare and ghosts, they can corrupt your lens, in that, when you screw on the filter, poor engineering of the cheap filters can scratch your expensive lens...not taking any chances.

A remote switch I read that the 60D can make internal noise and it could be picked up on the video. Again, not taking any chances, really looking to deliver high quality.

A better tripod ...Oh gosh, I can not tell you how many times I have fought with my 40 year old one to remain level. Legs slip into the socket...Grrr...

A lens hood. Never tried one, but for $6, I thought why not keep it on hand for indoor/outdoor use to deal with glare.

As far as the interchangeability of the Nikon lens onto the Canon body, I can do that. There are adapters, and showing that to my husband, put his mind to rest on that aspect of this major purchase.

Finding out about this Fiverr.com feature was the icing on the cake today! I am really loving Fiverr...totally changed my life...and it's good to feel the reciprocation of that love. xoxo MWAH MWAH!

Record Breaking!

Wow! I look back at the work I did yesterday! In terms of just gigs, not actual bookings, I recorded, edited and delivered:

I love being that busy! I wish I was that busy every day!!

I stress "number of gigs", rather than actual bookings, because actual bookings refers to a situation where someone actually books like 4 gigs to pay for one performance. In terms of that number, I delivered 12.

Some of those buyers actually owe me some gigs because some performances ran longer than originally paid for...you know, after script revisions and the buyer says "Oh, and say this too" routine...so I hope I do get compensated down the line for the time I put into their video.

I don't hold videos hostage though, awaiting an additional payment. They got their video. That is just how I am. If they are ethical, and appreciate my work, they will pay me. If not, then that shows what type of business person they are and I probably will not elect to work for them again, should they request me too.

So overall, one of my more productive days on Fiverr.com. I really enjoyed it and looking forward to more days like that.

It really does bring me joy to think that someone, who is running late on a birthday present, for their Mom in Malaysia, comes to me and asks me to sing and deliver a special message to their Mom...I mean, how can I possibly make that person wait 4 days?? It's just not going to happen...not with me it's not. Delivered in under 6 hours. Hope I brought some smiles to Malaysia yesterday...

Sony Vegas

Delivered my first 3 gigs today, edited with Sony Vegas. WOW! What a difference it makes. Really happy I have a friend who took the time to point out to me how dreadful my audio was...I never knew how tinny it sounded. I always edit with the volume down low so my dear husband doesn't have to hear the same thing over and over again, and that aspect never really hit me before...but last night it did, and I am glad moved in a direction to correct it and provide my customers with a cleaner video. Wow. I just can not get over the difference.

On other gigs I offer, I am am very stringent in protecting the work I deliver. On those gigs I require youtube upload only. However, with these gigs I grant greater latitude, because typically, I am not using another artists copyrighted work i.e. Music Samples, Sound Effects, etc... (I have been granted permission to use any elements I include in a video, however, I do not hold rights to pass the original artist's copyright onto another party.)

I require that you only use my image and/or audio in THIS video only. You can not manipulate my image and/or audio, or create pictures/images/audio recordings from the finished work you are provided, without my expressed written consent. To do so, would violate the licensing agreement that you agreed to upon purchase. Basically, I am giving you limited use of the video, however, DUSK Enterprises, Inc., still maintains all copyrights for it and/or any authorization to use it.

My licensing agreement holds that you will not manipulate the video in any way, nor will you create another video around my video. For example, if you sought to create a video titled, “All the performers of Fiverr.com”, you could not include my video in the video you create, without my expressed written permission. Another example would be if you wanted to enter my finished work in a contest, to do so would be a violation this licensing agreement.

My licensing agreement also holds that you will not create still images and/or audio from the video. For example, if you wanted to lift an image and/or audio from the video and incorporate it into a banner, avatar, track, sample, that would be a violation of the licensing agreement.

I own all rights to take the finished work provided to you and alter, manipulate in any fashion I want, and use it to further advertise my services on Youtube or other such sites. I will, however, mute any company names out of the video, if, and only if, you did not grant me permission prior, to upload the video on Youtube for you.  I will not use any video/audio/images of your original material you submitted to me. 

No watermark, no intro/outro credits will appear on the finished work, except for the Happy Birthday and You Are My Sunshine gigs. If a music or sound effect element is requested, then an ending credit may apply.

Youtube Conditions

With regards to Youtube uploading. The licensing agreement with me, on this particular grouping of gigs, does NOT prevent you from uploading the video to your own website or Youtube channel. You can upload the finished work, unaltered, non-manipulated, in it's entirety, onto your youtube channel. I require you to click on “Standard Use”copyright, rather than "Creative Commons" copyright.

If you choose to monetize the video, you must agree to annotate the video with:

in “note” form, font size “18”, “white” background, “black” font color, with note placed somewhere within the upper 1/3^rd of the screen, for at a minimum, of 15 seconds. 

I also have the right to upload the video to the OldBittyGrandma channel, and after upload, I am free to monetize this video. I may, but am not obligated to also offer, at the time of Youtube monetization, to include for my customer, the opportunity to annotate the video for a time frame up to 10 seconds. This annotation can include a link to their website, their company name, most any short message to appear on top of the video is available.

To help you remain within the bounds of the licensing agreement, you will be offered the opportunity to have the finished work uploaded to Youtube on the OldBittyGrandma Youtube Channel. If you decline that offer, it will be noted that you declined that offer. This licensing agreement holds that you will not manipulate the video in any way, nor create another video around this video, nor create still images from this video. For example, if you sought to create a video titled, “All the performers of Fiverr.com”, you could not include my video in the video you create. For example, if you wanted to lift an image from the video and incorporate it into a banner or avatar, that would be in violation of the licensing agreement. If you so desire, the finished work can be upload to Youtube and set for private viewing or public viewing. In the case of private viewing, setting private status requires the buyer providing email addresses of those that are allowed to view the video. I will gladly open the video up for public viewing where the buyer can freely embed the video anywhere on the internet the buyer desires, or make the video available on a cellular device. To avoid trolls, ratings or comments are not allowed on ANY of the videos appearing on my youtube channel. I do not monetize, advertise or make any financial gain from the views I receive on Youtube, during the first full week, of it being uploaded. I own all rights to take the finished work provided to you and can alter, manipulate in any fashion I want, and use it to further advertise my services on youtube or other such sites. I can also monetize on youtube or other such sites, any original work I create. I will, however, mute any company names out of the video, if, and only if, you did not grant me permission prior, to upload the video on youtube for you.  I will, however, not use any video/audio/images of your original material you submitted to me. ADDITIONALLY, For Private viewing/use: Please do not manipulate my image and/or audio, or create pictures/images/audio recordings from the finished work you are provided without my consent. On other gigs I offer, I always require my watermark appear ON the video and include an intro and outro w/credits, and there are stipulations within the licensing agreement, such as uploading onto Youtube, etc., BUT, I do not push those issues with testimonials, rants, VM recordings, as those constraints, for my buyer, would take away from the aspect of it being a testimonial. It looks more real, more like a real testimonial without credits, watermarks, or appearing on MY Youtube channel. I ask only that you use my image and/or audio in THIS video only. Please do not manipulate my image and/or audio, or create pictures/images/audio recordings from the finished work you are provided without my consent. To do so, would violate the licensing agreement that you agreed to upon purchase. The licensing agreement with me, on these particular groupling of gigs, does not prevent you from uploading the video to your own website or Youtube channel. For videos such as these, since they are representing YOUR company, in the way of a tutorial or testimonial, you can not use the "OldBittyGrandma", nor associated the "OldBittyGrandma" name with your distribution of the finished work I provide to you, not in any way. If there is going to be a video on Youtube of me, with my OldBittyGrandma name on it, then it will be uploaded by me, me alone. I need to be in control of not allowing comments or ratings, as well as other concerns. If my name, watermark, or intro/outro credit does NOT appear on the finished work I provide to you, then you can upload it to your Youtube channel, as long as you do NOT use my name. That IS acceptable. I also require you to click on “Standard Use”, rather than "Creative Commons".

Another condition of the licensing includes that when uploading to Youtube or sites, you must use “Standard License” instead of “Creative Commons” licensing. For example, if someone lifted my image from your video and used it on a porn site, you would file DCMA's against the porno site, to have that image removed. To not oblige and aid  DUSK Enterprises, Inc. with that endeavor, would be violating the licensing agreement.

Another condition of the licensing, is that because I own all rights to the video, you can not 'Monetize” ANY OF MY ORIGINAL WORK, on Youtube, or other such sites. In effect, you can not collect advertising monies from Youtube or other such sites, on the finished work I provide to you. You can not "resell" the finished work I provide to you. Thank you for your cooperation.

With regard to ANY work produced, Any gigs ordered, paid for, delivered on and then payment cancelled, CAN NOT BE USED, privately or publicly. If video/audio is purchased and delivered, and then the buyer decides to cancel payment, the video/audio delivered may not be used in a private or public fashion. Buyer may not use, post, publish or take any action whatsoever in distributing, or using , the video/audio in whole or in part.

TRICK or TREAT

HALLOWEEN 2011

Although I have had my fair share of treats, obviously... I have been focusing more on "tricks" these days, namely, gigs at Fiverr.com.

Here is my effort to save the environment:

Sure, the promotional gig video is geared more towards Halloween party invites and greetings, but I will do ANYTHING with my "Chartreuse" witch character, and will offer this gig year round. 

That Pesky Watermark

Generally speaking, and depending on how the buyer chooses to distribute, the watermark on finished work will be quite smaller, far more transparent, less evident and distracting. I have learned the hard way what happens to videos released with no copyright on them. This took me three long days, and lengthy DCMA efforts with Youtube to achieve. That was not a buyer of mine, rather, it was someone who saw one of my first "unprotected" Youtube videos, and stole it. 

If my buyer agrees to have me upload their request onto my Youtube Channel, because I have an agreement with Youtube now, I will go even easier on the watermark and it's frequency. If my buyer wants their request via .mp4/.wmv, then I will protect my work, again, not as frequent or apparent as shown in the promotional gig videos above...it will be discreet, but my watermark will be there, at least on some brief sections of the performance. 

I am planning on posting my licensing agreement, and how, on certain gigs, the agreement differs. Look for those details in an upcoming post. 

The Best of Fiverr blog INTERVIEW

  

Let's start here. I created this video in response to a request I received from The Best of Fiverr blog back at the end of August 2011. They wanted to feature me! I was ecstatic, just full of so many ideas! So I spent the next few days shooting and the following weekend editing and I came up with this video. I wanted to name it "BITTEN" because my experience of Fiverr.com, was, for me, similar to what one might think of when they hear the words "bitten by the acting bug". I was "bitten" alright, and this time, is was not by my  Black German Shepherd, my Demon Wolf Nikita...Oh no..this was not going to be a swift nip. This "bite" came without warning. It resulted in an extreme transformation of myself, my view of myself and my surroundings. 

This video was then featured on Fiverr.com's facebook.

 

I listed my first gig on Fiverr.com back in July 2011, but truly, here, with this video, was the beginning of my pursuit for something I always felt destined for, performing, writing, editing...creating, regardless it being small scale production, it's real, it enjoyable, and it's me.   

In this video, I mentioned those whose influence propelled my involvement with Fiverr.com, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank them once again and share their links.
